Social Work as a Human Rights Profession: An Action Framework

Abstract Human rights are foundational to social work, as recognised in the global definition, leading many consider work a human profession. Although has become an important compass for comprehensive frameworks understanding ‘practice’ of still limited. Only recently attempts have been made fill this gap. This article seeks continue these efforts and contribute better how constructs, deconstructs reconstructs ideas daily practice. We investigated following research question: ‘How do workers “act” when using framework practice?’ used qualitative design consisting ethnographic focus groups, with both service-users participating. Based on our research, we developed five building blocks action work: (i) systemworld-oriented action; (ii) lifeworld-oriented (iii) participatory (iv) joined-up (v) politicised action. These give account discursive practice work.
